An amulet imbued with the spirit of
a gecko. running along the crease where
the wall and ceiling meet. that my ba
points out to us nearing midnight in the
slow summer. it’s too hot but we’re still
close.
i haven’t heard ba’s voice in a long long time.
he’s singing the gecko’s song
and the gecko sings back.
