It is common practice in parts of Asia to offer food to ancestors during times of celebration and grief, in order to welcome them back to us.
These ancestor portraits are a way of inhabiting queer futures while exploring a queer past. Somewhere along the line, there was someone else. My queer ancestors are watching over me. Life is a bit better knowing I was never alone.
